Level 3
I suppose it has been a little while since the last post. What has happened since? Well- level 3. And we have moved on to drinking cider and wine. And purple goanna. And the Martinbourough Vineyards Pinot Noir, which was quite lovely.
There's been more Mexican/New Mexican cooking including taquitos and chimichangas (first time for both.) I think I'm going to invest in a tortilla press.
And then projects! Level 3 means we can move. Jacqueline has an old dresser with mirror and she asks if I'd like it and that I could sand it and paint it. Our family bought a new place but with level 4 we were unable to move; everyone had to stay where they were. So now that we are in level 3 we just have to wait for the people still living there to move out and then we can move in. The new place has a lot more space with several buildings. Jacqueline, her boyfriend and I will will be in the 3 bedroom guest house. Jacqueline has been dreaming of all kinds of lovely things like wallpaper. We ordered new bedspreads, I'm getting a desk and a monitor. I've been fully in "this is a pandemic and I can survive and keep going" mode for a month and a half but I'm really looking forward to having more space and my own little office space.
Level 3 also means restaurants can do takeaway and fastfood can open. The first morning at level 3 Jaqueline's boyfriend knocks on my door and has a latte for me. I yell, "what?!?!?" and insist of taking a picture of the momentous occasion. I haven't had a latte in something like 6 weeks. It was a very exciting morning.
Kitty ears on? Must mean there's a dance party. Afternoon dance party which was an all day fundraiser. Got up the next morning for Oakland's ecstatic dance. I had two friends on the call and it was so much more fun getting to dance with people I know. I think my friends will make it a more regular thing. I get up now at 5 am and dance with the sun coming up. That is awfully early in the morning but I did notice the one week I skipped it that my mood was down that week. So- up I'll get at 5 am and wiggle my body around for an hour and a half.
Other changes? Since I'm getting up at 5/5;30 am before the sun is up and it is cold I decided I should treat this time like a silent retreat. I've done a silent retreat in the winter and my two most favorite meditations of the day are the first thing in the morning and the last one in the evening. So- I thought I should pretend that is why I get up so early. But I don't actually get up early enough to meditate before the day starts. I start with a morning conference call at 6 am (11 am PDT). But- I'm doing the meditations at night most nights and on the weekend I often get 1.5 hours in. Today I did a morning meditation and then a lovely nap with an ASMR youtube video. I wanted to use my muse but I couldn't have the two apps running at once. I'd like to try yoga nidra with my muse on and see what it says about my brain waves.
Another exciting thing from the week: I got a new description for what I do for a living: software engineer: I make soft wearing things out of engineering. I got the skills like that. I can take hard things and make them soft. And wearable. A hardware engineer takes hard things and keeps them hard but makes them wearable.
Jacqueline's boyfriend today claimed he's Caucasian as we were joking about someone's uncle. Long story... anyway... I told him that he's Cook Asian. He might not be from the Cook Islands but he could probably pass for it.

Silly Kiwis: the tires go ON the car, not under them!
